If there are signs of instability and loss of strength in left knee , it does suggest a ACL tear to me.
Performing static quadriceps exercises strengthen rest of musculature to substitute for ACL. This works good in people with sedentary lifestyle.
Next Steps
If you continue to have problems that are interfering in day to day activities then;
you can get a MRI done at better centre to confirm diagnosis or plan a diagnostic arthroscopy with ACL reconstruction in same sitting.
