Hi... Nothing in life comes with a manual. So such assumptions are more likely to fail the test of time.
While you are deciding on your life partner focus on following factors:
1. What is it that both of you are seeking from this marriage. Be open and clear about it and discuss every factor in detail.
2. What kind of person both of you are and how both of you view career, marriage, kids, family, friends, etc.
3. Look deep into family backgrounds and basic family/parenting values.
4. How do you want to divide role after marriage? Both earning or one person earning? How the household cores and responsibilities are to be divided? What roles you both feel comfortable or find challenging?
5. Having an open discussion on finances to run a family is always a good idea. Also, buying a property etc. may also be briefly discussed.
Having said all that, please remember there is nothing that can ensure a happy marriage. But two partners constantly trying to achieve common goals and being respectful towards each others contribution will always do much better.
