In Ayurveda, prolonged fever in children is usually due to Agnimandya with Ama accumulation. Since the child is active between fever episodes, it may be a Vishama Jwara or post-viral fever.
Along with antipyretics when required, Ayurveda focuses on improving digestion and immunity. Light, easily digestible food, adequate fluids, and rest are important. Lukewarm water sponging can be continued.
Self-medication should be avoided in children. If fever persists beyond 5â6 days or crosses 102°F repeatedly, detailed evaluation by a doctor is necessary to rule out infection and plan appropriate treatment.
