I’m Dr Shamoon. A mild headache can occur after changing BP medicine, but repeated headache or blurred vision with raised readings should not simply be called an adjustment. Do not stop, double or alter the dose yourself. Measure BP after 5 minutes of rest with a correctly sized cuff and record morning/evening readings, symptoms and the exact medicine name.
Next Steps
Contact the prescribing doctor within 24–48 hours for a medication review. Seek urgent care now if BP is ≥180/120 or you develop severe/worsening headache, weakness, chest pain, breathlessness, confusion or persistent blurred vision. You can book a Practo consult with me to review your readings.
Health Tips
Avoid self-medicating with frequent anti-inflammatory painkillers, as they can raise BP or affect the kidneys.

Headaches and blood pressure swings for a week or two after switching BP medicines are common while your body adjusts.
Next Steps
Keep tracking your BP at home and share the readings with your doctor at your next follow-up.
Health Tips
If your BP stays above 150 or the headache is severe, don't wait for the follow-up. Call your doctor sooner.

Mild headache and BP fluctuations may occur after changing antihypertensive therapy. Monitor BP regularly under standardized conditions and continue the prescribed medication. If readings remain persistently elevated or headache worsens, consult the treating physician for review and dose adjustment.
