If you consider a particular shampoo causing the problem avoid it for some months and see. Some kids may do well with natural soap nuts. You have to rule out other causes of scalp irritation. Bore well water if it did not cause problems all these years should not cause now.
Next Steps
Child may require consultation and mediation if the problem is moderately causing difficulties.

Greetings This issue appears to be temporary irritation or dryness from washing rather than an infection, as it settles quickly and lacks redness or dandruff. To manage it:Use lukewarm water.Rinse shampoo out completely.Avoid rubbing your scalp while drying.Observe for 1–2 weeks to see if it improves

Hi. Since this is happening only after head wash and settles on its own in a few minutes, it may simply be due to temporary scalp dryness, water temperature, or mild irritation after shampooing rather than an infection (especially if there is no dandruff or redness). For now, try using lukewarm water, rinse the shampoo well, avoid rubbing the scalp while drying, and observe for 1–2 weeks.
Next Steps
Also please let me know: 1) Does it happen after every hair wash? 2) Any hair oil being used? 3) Any flakes / scaling / lice noticed?
Health Tips
If itching starts happening even without head bath or redness develops, evaluation may be needed.

It's due to hard water only

Post-bath scalp itching without dandruff or redness is most likely due to hard borewell water (high mineral content) drying out the scalp, or mild shampoo sensitivity. It resolving on its own within minutes is reassuring — no signs of infection or lice.
Next Steps
Try using filtered or boiled cooled water for the final hair rinse Switch to a mild, sulphate-free kids shampoo Apply a small amount of coconut oil 30 min before bath to prevent scalp dryness If itching persists or worsens, consult a pediatrician

Use filtered/RO water or last rinse with drinking water for 1–2 weeks and observe. ✅ Use lukewarm, not hot water. ✅ Shampoo only 2–3 times/week, not daily. ✅ Choose a fragrance-free mild shampoo (e.g., Cetaphil / Sebamed / Mustela). ✅ After bath, apply 2–3 drops coconut oil or light scalp moisturizer if scalp looks dry. ✅ Check for lice/nits once (sometimes itching after wetting reveals occult lice).

This can happen due to temporary scalp dryness/irritation after head bath, especially with borewell (hard) water, even if there is no dandruff or visible rash. Since it settles within few minutes and she is otherwise normal, it does not sound serious.
Next Steps
You may try: • Use lukewarm water instead of hot water • Use mild shampoo only 1–2 times/week and rinse well • Apply small amount of coconut oil/light moisturizer to scalp 30–60 min before bath • Avoid vigorous rubbing while washing or towel drying • If possible, try bathing once with filtered/soft water and observe difference
Health Tips
If itching becomes persistent, occurs even without bath, or if redness/flakes/hair fall develop, then scalp examination by pediatrician/dermatologist is advisable.
