I have severe harm intrusive thoughts since one month but the frequency varies. Like I'll be harming my toddler whom I love the most and that's causing me severe nervousness. (I have no other medical history.) I had consulted a psychiatrist for the same n he was like it's obsessive thoughts with generalised anxiety and not ocd. He said it's common and helped with with how to live with the thoughts. Also put me on stalopam 5mg for a month. I am anxious about taking the medicine. Please advice if it would help me with my thoughts and any other advices if any. Thank you.

Hi, These kind of problems can be solved with therapy and counseling. At sever level, patients need medicine but any situation need to be evaluated with a professional and specialist. Please avoid medicine till you be sure you need it. Anxiety and obsessive thoughts all have reasons and need to be cured from the roots. Medicine can only change the symptoms without treatment the main reason. First you need to consult with a psychologist/therapist to evaluate your problem with some more details. Then with therapy, you must be feeling better without medicine... Please take care.
