Progressing from 130° to full vertical elevation (180°) takes time, patience, and consistent stretching. It is entirely normal for this final range to take anywhere from 3 to 5 months post-surgery to safely achieve, as deep capsular tightness must safely yield.
Next Steps
Resisted External Rotation (Band): Anchor a resistance band at elbow height. Stand sideways to the anchor, holding the band with your surgical arm (the arm furthest from the anchor). Keeping your elbow tucked tightly to your side, pull the band outward away from your stomach. Control the return. 2 Childâs Pose Stretch: Kneel on the floor or sit back on your heels in front of a table. Place both hands on the table and gently lower your chest toward the floor, letting your shoulders stretch overhead.
