Basic treatment of gum disease is cleaning called as Scaling and oral prophylaxis. If gum disease still persists then gum surgery known as flap surgery is required in few cases.
Once thorough oral prophylaxis is done and oral hygiene is maintained there are chances of gums healing well.
Complications of untreated gum disease are bone loss around the teeth, bleeding gums, receding gums and mobility of teeth.
