I m having fear of diseases...sometimes it's hiv ...sometimes heart attack...sometimes cancer and right now it's rabies ... This month nearly 17 days back I touched an elephant at kaziranga national park n fed her bananas ...the elephants saliva was all over my palm...I feel what if I had some mild scratch or cut on my palm and I did not know ... Now last week I took care of 3 kittens ...the mother cat was dead ..reasons unknown...the kittens were 3 to 4 weeks old...they did not bite or scratch me ...but I fed them milk through syringe and bottles . Now I feel maybe I was scratched mildly and I don't know ... Also does the washing of feeders and bottles in my bathroom cause virus to contaminate the water in the bucket ... Am scared too much abt getting rabies from these incidents I have taken rabies vaccine last yr April and before that in May 2021...will this give me immunity till now ...am I safe ...how do I deal with this constant fear which is affecting daily routine

Hi, Being over conscious of health causes negativity & we sometimes comes into a loop of repetitive thoughts. It becomes strong pattern in our subconscious mind. Later continuous thoughts affects our feelings & behavior. even if we try to counter our thoughts it becomes difficult. Also we start to live in completely in our head away from real life. a combining approach of CBT & hypnotherapy helps. Hypnosis removes this deep insecurity & breaks subconscious patterns. CBT helps to deal with negative thoughts effectively. Consult Thank You & Take care.

Hi... This appears to be a case of health anxiety or hypochondria. But still if you are afraid of any particular disease (rabies, heart, cancer, etc.) it is always better to get yourself tested first, vaccination or treatment comes later. Since the pandemic there is a rise in the number of cases of health anxiety, as people are witnessing suffering (health/economic/social/emotional). There is a sharp rise in the number of deaths (disease/accident/suicide). Economic downturn and following loss of employment or income have further made the condition worse. All this has torn the fabric of social, personal, family, marital relationships, which has further added to the pain and suffering. All these conditions have created an atmosphere where it is very normal to feel afraid for one's own health or health of your loved ones. The simplest solution to health anxiety is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). In some cases antianxiety medications or antidepressant, prescribed by a Psychiatrist, may also be used to contain a severe condition.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. CBT along with Lifestyle Changes and Interpersonal Guidance and Counselling is required. Consult a Psychiatrist for a medical diagnosis and medications, if required.
