I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, anxiety and depression more than a year ago. I have been on high doses of medicines My current medicines are Aripirazole 5mg, Parocalm 12.5mg and Ezolac plus I work in an office, I have difficulty in focusing and remembering Does the medication or my diagnosis affect my cognitive memory?

Yes. Both your diagnosis and medications can affect concentration and memory. Schizophrenia commonly causes cognitive difficulties, while anxiety, depression, and sedative medicines may worsen them. Please discuss a medication review with your psychiatrist rather than stopping medicines on your own.

Cognitive difficulties can occur due to the illness itself, anxiety/depression, sleep issues, or medications. Aripiprazole at 5 mg is less likely to cause significant cognitive impairment, but an individual assessment is needed. Please discuss this with your treating psychiatrist before changing medication.
