Don’t worry about it, it’s perfectly fine. For most adults, having one or a few CT scans in a year when clearly indicated is considered acceptable; clinicians follow the “ALARA” principle—keep radiation As Low As Reasonably Achievable and only scan when benefits clearly outweigh risks.

A CT scan delivers a very small amount of radiation, and your two brain CT scans done 8 years apart are far below any level that could ever cause cancer. In fact, the total radiation you received is less than what every person naturally gets from the environment in just one year of normal life. Medical science tells us that cancer risk starts only when someone receives more than 100 mSv, and even then the risk is extremely small. Each brain CT is about 1–2 mSv, so your two scans together are barely 3–4 mSv. This is 25 times lower than the level where any measurable risk has ever been seen. So you can relax completely -you did nothing harmful to your body. The radiation does not stay inside you, it does not build up, and it cannot activateany disease later. Once the scan was over, the radiation disappeared immediately, just like a flashlight turning off. Your scans were done for your safety, and they did exactly what they were supposed to do -rule out any serious problems.
