Strengthening your immunity through proper nutrition and lifestyle changes can help you improve your overall health. As a dietitian, I recommend the following easy-to-remember tips to help manage your symptoms and support overall immunity:
• Begin your morning with warm water, herbal tea, or a traditional warm kadha to calm your throat.
• Consume fruits high in
vitamin C (such as oranges, amla, guava) every day.
• Include garlic, ginger, turmeric, and honey in your meals for natural immune support, by adding them to soups, haldi milk, or homemade immunity shots (like ginger-lemon-honey or amla-tulsi shots).
• Add probiotic foods like yogurt or fermented foods such as homemade curd, kanji, or idlis/dosas, dhoklas, etc to your meals.
• Make sure you stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
• Avoid cold beverages, processed foods, and limit outside food consumption.
• See a doctor if symptoms persist or get worse.
