Cervical polypectomy on 14th week

2023-12-07 14:42:50
I am pregnant for 14 week now and I am having a big cervical polyp hanging from vagina coming out giving lots of discharge and sometimes spotting. Sitting and walking is painful and it's size keep increasing . Doct advised me for polypectomy but what will be be the risk no one is telling. Is there going to have impact on my pregnancy or any preterm delivery. Does anaesthesia have bad impact on the foetus.

Cervical polyp causes spotting and discharge…so polypectomy to be done if its symptomatic…polypectomy leads to cervical incompetence sometimes..and chance if preterm delivery is there…it can be done under short general anesthesia or local also so no much impact on fetus

It is a double edged sword The risk of not removing the polyp overweighs the risk of removing it If this polyo is not removed  you will continue to be in pain it can cause infection and predispose  to pretem labour

If it is symptomatic and giving you discomfort it needs to be removed because it would be difficult to continue with this polyp till term
