I'm having cavity in my tooth. Whether filling is advisable or root canal? What is the cost for both the treatments?

Filling is done if the caries has not involved the pulp. If the pulp is involved, you will need root canal treatment regardless of whether you have pain or not. An X-ray or RVG can help evaluate the extent of caries better. Filling will cost anything between 800 to 1200 and Root Canal Treatment will cost between 2500 to 3500 depending on extent of caries.
Next Steps
Kindly visit a dentist and get X-ray along with consultation

Cavity extending up to pulp (living part of tooth) needs to be treated by Root canal Therapy followed by a crown. Small cavities can be treated by Fillings. Cost is variable. Root canal Treatment may cost you 2000-3000 Fillings may cost you 500-1000

Cavity can be filled if small. If its huge you should go for a crown. If its deep you would require root canal treatment. Your dentist can tell you. Rates vary so much depending on type of filling materials snd so many types are available.

Hi there.. Cavities if small can be easily taken care with normal restorations which do not require any complex procedures. When the decay is in the enamel and dentin but it's not approaching the nerves (pulp) then the tooth is fit for a normal filling. When the decay reaches your innermost layer of the tooth that's your pulp and once it gets infected then it has to be treated with a Root canal treatment which can be 4-5 times costlier than a normal filling. Charges vary from place to place and clinic to clinic.
Next Steps
visit your dentist to evaluate your options for the preservation of the tooth.

The cost of any treatment varies from dentist to dentist and depends on multiple factors like the materials or equipments used, experience of the dentist or the current clinical condition of the tooth being worked upon. The decision of distinction between filling and root canal depends upon the clinical condition of the tooth, your symptoms and the X-ray picture of the same. Rational opinion cannot be given without knowing about these factors. Regards.
Next Steps
schedule an appointment with a dentist as soon as possible before the symptoms start bothering you.
