I have started taking Telmisartan 40 mg for hypertension from the past 11 days at bedtime. Now my blood pressure is 130/85 And at night half an hour before taking the med it's 140/90. I started taking the medicine because my pressure was constantly at 140/90 to 144/92 . Why is my BP not getting normal. Please help.

BP of 120/80 Should not be considered normal for all the population. It varies with age, the place where they live, gender, their comorbidities and medications. BP of 130 / 85 in your case is considered normal. Continue the same medication. Consent if you have any dizziness or uncomfortable with medication

Give minimum gap Of Two hours between the medication and BP measurement

Your blood pressure Is controlled by the medication .so BP before medication will be high. Once you take the medicine, your BP reduces.

With age blood vessels get harder thats the reason your BP is High and give time to medication to accomodate and work with medication start morning walk and healthy diet.

It can take a few weeks to stabilize.meanwhile consider lifestyle modificatiins.
