Ideal way to use a mouth wash is to wait for half n hour after brushing, use mouth wash, 5-10 ml gargle throughly for one minute and spit out. Do not eat or drink anything for next half n hour. Gum astringent can be used even after breakfast. Gently massage on the gums and leave it for 15-20 mins and wash with water.
