Bad breath, or halitosis, can stem from various sources. Common causes include poor oral hygiene, where bacteria in the mouth break down food particles and release foul-smelling gases. Dry mouth, which reduces saliva production and its cleansing effects, also contributes. Certain foods like garlic and onions contain volatile compounds that can linger in the mouth. Additionally, smoking and tobacco use can leave a persistent odor. Dental issues such as gum disease, cavities, or poorly fitted dental appliances may harbor bacteria that produce odorous compounds. Lastly, underlying medical conditions like respiratory infections, acid reflux, or diabetes can also lead to chronic bad breath.
Next Steps
visit a dentist to find the root cause.

Hello, bad odour occurs usually because of plaque and calculus deposits that occur in mouth overtime. The problem can be managed by maintaining good oral hygiene, using an anti plaque mouthwash , brush your teeth twice a day with proper brushing technique , use a tongue cleaner. And most importantly you should have scaling done every six months.clinics charge 1500-3000 per scaling session. You can consult me for more details and treatment.
