I have anxiety (Health Anxiety which because of Hypertension spike 150/100 or 160/105) issue from last 3 months and i am on medication which i use Nexito 10mg. Even before i used clonazepam 0.5mg for initial 40 days and slowly tapered it for every 10 days. Now i was fine from last 3 months but now due to some health issue of my mother i am feeling stressed and due to which by BP is getting spiked and it is becoming normal in some time. It happened twice in last 4 days. How i need to consider this. Should i use hypertension medication or it will be fine to have stress control. Even before i used hypertension medication before not knowing about anxiety thinking BP is high.

It's very important query to differentiate between anxiety and hypertension i.e.raised BP, Anxiety and HTN are two independent symptoms, If a person has raised bp persistently for weeks or months without any mood or anxiety symptoms,it means, that person should consult a Physician MD, medicine for further evaluation of causes of raised bp as KFT, lipid profile, ECG,CBCetc " If an individual has anxiety, mood symptoms, disturbed sleep, in most of the cases of anxiety or mood disorders, bp remains normal, in such situation first you can plan a visit with physician to rule out physical causes as raised bp, RBS,CBC,etc In most of the case of anxiety and mood disorders investigations are normal " If anxiety is panic like, there is raised bp but that is not persistent, only during episode of anxiety So as per my opinion first you consult a physician, consult with psychiatrist with your report and medical records for detailed assessment " In some cases person have anxiety plus comorbity HTN, DM, so Medications for anxiety and bp both are advice "

Hello, From what you describe, your BP spikes appear to be stress-related and are settling down on their own. Anxiety can cause temporary increases in BP, which does not always mean you need long-term hypertension medication. Since you are already on Nexito for health anxiety, the main focus should be on continuing anxiety treatment, stress management, and lifestyle measures. Blood pressure medicines are only started if readings remain high ( ≥140/90) on multiple calm, resting measurements over time.
Next Steps
1. Monitor BP at home at the same time daily, when calm, and keep a log for 1–2 weeks. 2. Share this record with your doctor (psychiatrist and a physician). 3. Do not start or stop BP medicines on your own. 4. Continue Nexito and consider therapy (like CBT) for health anxiety
Health Tips
Follow lifestyle measures: reduce caffeine, improve sleep, exercise, relaxation practices. For more queries, Reach out for an online or in-person consultation: 📞 NEURONAL FIX CLINIC, RAMPRASTHA COLONY, Ghaziabad, (near Shreshtha Vihar, Delhi)- +91- 74XX52XX97XX67XX61

First of all, talk to a doctor regarding your hypertension issue. Tell them about all the medications you have taken. Hope those were taken by prescription. Once you start your hypertension medication, consult a psychologist here or nearby. Proper Counselling will help you fight any stress or anxiety.

Hii.. Raise of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure should be monitored with caution daily for at least 1 week to rule out hypertension.. It should be considered whether you are monitoring BP only during stress or in normal conditions too.. When anxiety issues are recurring there is a need to find the cause and treatment for a few months is recommended than to taper off quickly.. Consult online for further assessment and treatment

I understand your concern. From what you’ve described, the spikes in blood pressure seem to be closely linked with periods of stress and anxiety rather than persistent hypertension. This is a common pattern seen in health anxiety, where temporary stress-related BP elevations can occur. Since you are already on Nexito (escitalopram) and had earlier used clonazepam, it seems your anxiety is under treatment. Occasional spikes, especially during stressful situations, do not necessarily mean you need to start long-term antihypertensive medication, unless your blood pressure remains consistently elevated on repeated readings taken at rest and in a calm state.
Next Steps
What you can do: • Monitor BP at home but avoid checking too frequently, as this can worsen health anxiety. • Practice relaxation techniques (deep breathing, mindfulness, physical activity). • Maintain regular follow-up with your psychiatrist for anxiety management. • If you notice persistent BP readings above 140/90 mmHg, even when relaxed and not anxious, it would be appropriate to consult a physician to rule out primary hypertension.
Health Tips
In short: at present it looks more stress-related than true hypertension, but continued monitoring and stress control are important. Please do not self-start or stop any medication without medical advice
