Anxiety and depression

Dear Doctors, Firstly is anxiety different from depression? I was in depression in 2020 and a psychiatrist put me on prodep 40mg and petril and mirtaz. After taking that medicine there was improvement and I slowly recovered in 1.5 months. Now I'm going through major anxiety issue, and the same psychiatrist has put me on the same medicines from 2 months but I'm not seeing any improvement, may be very little.. today was a very horrible day.. I'm taking prodep 40mg , petril 0.25 mg and Buspin 5mg in the morning and night mirtaz 7.5mg and petril 0.25mg.. I still not feel good.. only thing I feel ok is in the night coz I get to sleep coz of meds otherwise I'm most of the times in anxiety.. plz let me know if my medicines are working or should I have a change in medicine.. if yes! Why the medicines that worked last time isn't working this time? But this time it is more of an anxiety attack than depression..

It looks like relapse of your depression. sometimes it becomes difficult to get relief like last time. These disorders are complicated. So, can't have a yes or no answer to your question of whether anxiety and depression are same or not. Actually anxiety as symptom can be part of depressive disorders. But generalized anxiety disorder is a different condition. Only having anxiety issues doesn't mean that you are having anxiety disorder. There are overlapping symptom in these disorders and need to be reviewed by psychiatrist only.
Next Steps
Follow up with your psychiatrist. Don't change your doctor.
