You need to practice alternative medicine. It is always advisable to discontinue medicine on your drs advice. But you need to get regular Counseling to tackle and approach your social anxiety so that you learn coping mechanisms and gradually come off meds. Work on your will power. It's not clear if you had depressive syndrome too?

do not avoid going out. take someone on whom you can rely when going out to a gathering. learn to do deep breathing throughout the day when anxiety hits you or you feel it will. this will settle your nerves. try to list out the exact feelings thoughts that cross your mind when you are in a social anxiety situation. it will bring clarity and help the counsellor to address it accordingly.
