L4 and L5 are levels of the vertebral body and L4-L5 refers to the intervertebral disc between the two bodies. The disc can get swollen, can cause cabal stenosis or can cause nerve root compression depending upon what the MRI shows. If the symptoms are not major, you can avoid MRI as of now and follow orthopedicians advice for complete resolution of your symptoms.

He may have meant that you have L4-L5 level slipped disc or it can be L4-5 Listhesis. If it is in early stages then this can be managed by a few medications and posture correction.

L4 l5 are lumbar vertebrae...no it does mean slip disc.... There can be other causes ...
