My father was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure(140/82) 3-4 months ago. He had been prescribed AMLOKIND 2.5 mg. Now his pressure is normal but the doctor has asked him to regularly take AMLOKIND and has told that he needs to take it his whole life.
Is this necessary? Is it necessary to take the medicine even if BP is normal? he also has low immunity and his feet swell up in hot summers. Please advise

If his blood pressure was 140/82 in the absence of other risk factors (DM, HTN, cardiac disease, obesity etc.) then he need not be on therapy. But then he should monitor his blood pressure weekly at home. In case you need further advice, do book an online consult from my practo profile and we can discuss
