Hba1c gives an idea about the average sugar level in your body over the past 3 months whereas the random blood sugar provides information about the blood sugar at that moment. The sugar could be going higher at other times of the day which you are not aware of. Having said that, its also important to know that hba1c test can give erroneous results if certain precautions are not followed by the lab.
