Hi. Alopecia areata is an auto immune condition. The body's immunity is locally active in areas, against the hair cells and hence hair is lost. So this problem can be recurrent. You need to see a dermatologist who can provide you with remedy for the current areas of alopecia areata and depending on the disease activity, provide you with long term maintenance medications of necessary. Let me know if you need any further information n assistance in this regard. Take care.
