So you have to understand that alcohol is a depressant of nervous system in itself. Also there are different cognitive patterns that get associated with alcohol when have suffered the consequences. So if you took alcohol in excessive quantity even for 2 days that is binge pattern, it will precipitate the complete withdrawal seen after chronic alcohol use. But it was a lapse and not complete relapse. Meaning you didn't return to your earlier pattern fully. If you abstain from alcohol, take proper course of medication and taper with correct timing. While building good cognitive patterns, behavioural activation and different skills taught in therapy. You can stop the cycle of depression. I provide online consultation and therapy support, if needed you can contact me directly on nine eight two six five four five six six zero.

It’s understandable to feel worried about this. Even a short period of alcohol use can temporarily disturb brain chemicals like serotonin, dopamine, and GABA, leading to a sudden worsening of mood for a few days. This is usually a transient effect, not permanent.
Next Steps
For medication duration and long-term recovery, it varies from person to person, so it’s best discussed with a psychiatrist as it needs detailed evaluation of your specific characteristics if you feel the need you book your consultation with me for the same
