Addiction to drinks
My friend, is drinking every day and he looks very ill now a days. He couldn't sleep at night and its going om for months now. His health is degrading. Yet,he is not able to leave smoking and drinking.

If you can see that he is deteriorating and he cannot see this, it means he has a poor insight into his situation. If you can, then convince him to see a doctor who can then get his liver function and other tests done and then your friend will also see how alcohol is harming him. Once he realizes this, the chances that he would think about quitting become higher. He can be started on motivation enhancement therapy. Medicines will help him with the craving and sleep.

Hello. Alcohol addiction is a very common problem as the brain becomes used to the use of alcohol. So it is difficult for the patient to quit even if they want to. However medicines are available for de-addiction along with counselling. However suddenly stopping alcohol can cause some serious problems that can only be dealt with by a psychiatrist. So kindly visit a psychiatrist soon.

Well, he may have experienced emotional disturbance and  failures in life. He wouldn't be able to accept such things in life. That may be one of the reason for his alcohol addictions. He requires a support system from the family and professional assistance.
