Acne and treatments
I went to my dermatologist and he recommended Accutane, but brushed off my questions as not worth the worry. When I read the literature and side effects I found it is a pretty strong and somewhat damaging drug. How worried should I be. I'm also a type 1 diabetic and he blew off my questions pertaining tok that. Just need people's opinion as to the safety of this treatment

Dear Patient , Accutane or Isotretinoin as it is generically known is an excellent medicine for acne . The most common side effects noted with the drug include dryness of skin and lips . Prior to starting the drug your lipid profile and liver function tests should be done and checked . As with most other medications -accutane does have other side effects which are not so commonly observed if the right dose and proper monitoring is done . I hope this helps !
Next Steps
Moisturise your skin and use a lip balm to prevent the dryness . Keep visiting your dermatologist once a month for better monitoring and results.
