Sucralfate is commonly prescribed for patients with gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and sometimes for gastritis or esophagitis.
It works by forming a protective barrier over the ulcer or inflamed area, shielding it from stomach acid, bile salts, and digestive enzymes, which helps promote healing and reduces pain.
The usual dosing schedule is 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals and at bedtime, typically on an empty stomach.
Sucralfate syrup should be taken on an empty stomach
Correct Timing is 30 minutes before each meal 2–4 times daily
Taking it after meals reduces its effectiveness
