Knee pain which is sudden needs to be evaluated for the cause and treat accordingly...an ortho or physio can help u better to diagnose( which is of utmost importance here)and treat the problem

At present apply ice packs atleast thrice a day for 15mins each. That will help you reduce the swelling. And visit to the nearest ortho or physio for further advice. They will be the best to decide what to do next after assessing you.
