Hello Doctor,
Wanted to ask regarding Abhyarab Rabies Vaccine. I completed my course after contact with a rodent (big)- no bleeding. Around Nov 3rd week 2025 completed the course; privately I took.
Recently last month there was a lot of news and in social media regarding the counterfeit rabies vaccine (Australian advisory) in social media.
Anything to do ?
Do I need to check my antibody titres?
Its been around 3 months

Based on what you’ve told me:
• Exposure was rodent contact with no bleeding → medically very low rabies risk.
• You completed a full rabies vaccination course in November 2025.
• It has now been about 3 months.
In an immunocompetent adult, after completing a proper PEP schedule, antibody titres are not routinely required.
Regarding the social media news about counterfeit vaccines:
Such advisories are usually batch-specific and region-specific. Unless you received the vaccine from an unlicensed source or there is confirmed recall information for your batch, there is no indication for panic testing.
From a clinical standpoint, your situation does not automatically warrant antibody titre testing.
Next Steps
You should consider titre testing only if:
• You are immunocompromised
• You were on steroids or chemotherapy during vaccination
• The vaccine source was doubtful
• The vaccination schedule was incomplete or interrupted
If none of the above apply:
• No immediate testing is required
• No booster dose is required
• No additional action is needed
If you still feel anxious, a single Rabies Virus Neutralizing Antibody (RVNA) titre can provide psychological reassurance — but medically it is not mandatory.
Health Tips
• Keep your vaccination records safely.
• For future exposures, inform doctors you completed PEP in Nov 2025.
• Avoid relying solely on social media advisories without verified batch details.
• Rabies vaccines are highly immunogenic in healthy individuals.
If you’d like, I can review your exact vaccination dates, schedule type (ID vs IM), and health status in a short online consultation to give you definitive reassurance tailored specifically to your case — that often brings much more peace of mind than general advice.
If you completed the full vaccine course from a proper clinic, there is usually no need to worry. Antibody testing is not routinely required after vaccination.
If you still feel anxious or had high-risk exposure, consult me so I can review your history properly and guide you further.
