Need an opinion on 16 days baby jaundice level and treatment: Bilirubin Total Hmg/ L0 - 13.76 Bilirubin Conjugated Hmg/dL - 0.81 Bilirubin Unconjugated - 12.95 The following count is for 16 days old baby. Consulting pediatrician has asked to followup after 2 weeks and has not prescribed any medicine. Need second level of advice.

There are few more reasons of prolonged jaundice. 1. See the weight gain - is it adequate? 2. Breast milk some times contribute to prolonged jaundice. 3. Check the serum TSH. 4. Look for evidence of hemolysis, if it is occuring 5. Hope, trisomy is ruled out.

There are many causes of prolonged jaundice. Currently this level wont fall under zone of phototherapy. But you need to followup if it doesnt cone down in 2 weeks you need to get few tests done
