Child was inside mom's womb for 9 months. It was a dark, quiet and ambient condition. After birth there are lot of disturbances like -noises -change in humidity -change in temp -changes in light -someone touching the child -also wetness due to passing urine or stool etc This all disturbances cause the child disturbances and make them cry. Sometimes it is due to colic also. For that tummy time can be encouraged or also use of colicaid drops. This problem can persist till 3 months of age. But if child is gaining weight, passing urine adequately and in general active then need not worry.

This is expressive behaviour after awakening. I think it's normal as per your statement.
