Dr Lakshmy herself tested all the reports and requested me to take a scan for both eyes. In two days, they arranged for the scan and took the report. She explained to me about the serious damage caused to my left eye retina. The scan report clearly indicates the large hole in the retina, damaging my eye power. It was an unexpected report to me on my eyes. Dr Lkashmy explained all about the eye status and the need to go for cataract surgery for both eyes. She was also kind enough to explain the details to my daughter and son, who were very interested to know about the surgery. Considering my age, she did not suggest going for a retina operation. We were all well informed about the eye status and to go for cataract surgery. She indicated that the first cataract surgery will be done for the right eye, and after a few days, the left eye surgery will be done. This is decided considering my age and comfort level after surgery. The date was fixed for the right eye surgery, and drops were prescribed. In the meantime, Mr Subramanian, administrative and insurance co-ordinator, contacted us about our insurance mediclaim policy usage. His efficient approach in explaining in detail the insurance formalities and supporting us to claim the payment was very fruitful. We are really grateful to him for all his support during the surgery. About the supporting staff in the clinic, particularly the reception staff are so friendly approach in completing all tests, etc., with related staff. Dr Lakshmi also explained in detail about the surgery activities and motivated me well in completing the surgery. The surgery took 15 minutes, and all the related staff in the theatre were very supportive. Dr Lakshmy took special care of me due to my age and contacted me over the phone about my eye status after surgery and the importance of applying drops as scheduled by her without fail. In conclusion, I wish to thank all staff concerned and in particular to DR lakshmi for all their support in completing my cataract surgery for both Eyes very well satisfaction to me. I have no hesitation in recommending the Leela Eye Clinic and Dr Lakshmy for their quality and friendly service to the eye patients. I wish the clinic all success in their future assignments for the betterment of eye patients.

I got both eyes cataract surgery (MICS - Micro Incision Cataract Surgery) done here by Dr. Lakshmy over the past two weeks. And, let me say that the experience is certainly 'worth writing home about.'

This is a great place for anyone needing help with eye problems and vision. The clinc itself is spotlessly clean and well laid out. The nurses and staff were very friendly and supportive, most encouraging for a nervous someone like me who has never gone into an OT for anything, ever.

For the best part, everything is under one roof. From general health check-up (blood test, urine test, EKG, BP, pharmacy, etc.) leading right upto surgery is "in-house". In other words, you are not sent across town to different labs for tests, or say, to another 'speciality' hospital for surgery - just an elevator ride to the first or the second floor.

For a pre-surgery proceedure, an IOLMaster (laser) was used to measure the depth of the eye cylinder to enable the doctor to select the correct power of the intraocular lens (IOL). In my case, Dr. Lakshmy scaned each eye thrice to ensure that there were no chance for an error. With any proceedure, she would always tell you what she was going to do and what to I should expect to feel or see.

Each eye surgery (with a week's gap) lasted no more than 15 to 20 minutes (including local anesthesia time). During surgery I felt nothing other than some dancing light show (aurora borealis?). After a short post-surgery observation/rest of 15 minutes or so, I was allowed to go home with the post-surgery medication in hand. Quick and precise, and as pleasant an experience anyone would like to have it.

Another thing that does not quite happen (at least not often enough) with 'big' hospitals. On both evenings post-surgery (done in the afternoon), Dr. Lakshmy would call me at home over the phone just to check if I was having any problem - nice touch. As for my cataract surgery, I now have perfect vision and with no undesired side effects so far, and hopefully, not ever.

Anything eye related, Dr. Lakshmy and her team are highly recommended.
