Dr. Sumithra Devi

This is my first ever review and am glad that am writing the one for Dr. Sumithra, who is very considerate, and a doctor who approach her patients in a calm and composed manner.

My Amma is 63 years old now, approximately 4 years before we had a alarming situation. She was working and one fine day, I received a call from my Amma (as she was staying alone and we 2 daughters staying in different places post marriage) saying that someone following her in airplane and bothering her. Initially we though it is because of lack of sleep and advised her to have adequate sleep. Later, the situtation become very worse and received a call from her office that she keep saying about the issues even at office and they advised her to quit the job. She quit and stayed with us.

Was not sure where to go and whom to consult and was not able to manage her condition as it was not normal as she started getting panic on every single things at home and asked to remove most of the things at home as she felt something/someone is bothering her through each things. In this hard situation I contacted Dr. Thirunavukarasu a special mention to him as he is the one who recommended Dr. Sumithra and she diagnosed it as schizophrenia.

I must say Dr. Sumithra treated my Amma like a kid and since my Amma was afraid of medicines she even explained the dosages and made her feel comfortable in taking medicines during her brief stay at hospital.

She is very friendly and no hurries while consulting the patient

She explain everything in detail in a layman language

Most importantly, she never petrify us with medical terminology / negative terms, even though my Amma condition was so severe. Being in a specialization field, I trust this is the primary thing each doctor should follow. This really helped my Amma to cooperate with doctor and follow her advise.

Initially my mother was so hesitant to take the medications, but now with her friendly nature she proactively informs me if there is medicine shortage.

The Result: She is absolutely alright now. i have no words to express my gratitude to Dr Sumithra. She not only helped her to recover from her ailment but also helped our entire family from a humongous pain.

With due respect we (our family) would like to express our sincere gratitude to her. Thank yo so much for your exemplary service.

I have never ever written a review before for any doctor to be very honest, not that I haven't met any one interesting and efficient but I really didn't feel the need to. But in this case,

I had been under wrong notion that only people with serious mental conditions would consultant psychiatrist but that is not the scenario. If there is anyone out there under the same illusion, request you to visit her, your thoughts will be completely changed. There are subtle things that we are not aware of & suffer due to lack of ignorance.

Her ever Contagious smile while greeting patients, warm personality, gentle and understanding approach helps us in building a trust and sharing our innermost thoughts , concerns that are bothering us. The medicines prescribed

start showing their effects in a really short span and we can see a good improvement in our status.

I would also strongly recommend for couples who are looking for good counselling sessions as she is completely unbiased, rational and listens to both sides without any preference or favourism, addressing the key concerns n helping couples bridge the gaps. Please consult her without any second thoughts and you will never regret it.

she listens to your whole problem very patiently. as an introvert myself i think i have never opened up to someone so easily and sumithra mam' has her own good vibe which make opening up her an easy fun process( actually it feels like a chit chat) and i have to mention her after support she is always ready to answer your calls and clarify any doubts in the phone as well she is very friendly and sweet which make you think that you are sharing everything with your long lost best friend.

Sumitra Devi madam is simply amazing and an outstanding psychiatrist. I've been taking treatment from her for the past 3 months for depression. I have been feeling positive changes from the time I started the medicines and my condition has drastically improved. I see lot of improvement the mindset as well. Will definitely recommend her if you're looking for good Psychiatrist . Mental well-being is nothing to be afraid of it is completely ok to get help and if there is a good doctor like her it makes things even better. LONG POST I am suffering with anxiety disorder for a long time. I had various other problems also like stomach issues, lack of appetite which was also because of anxiety that I wasn’t aware of. In the recent times, my anxiety started overpowering me and it was going completely out of my control. My mind was always filled with negative thoughts, worst-case scenarios, worry about my future, death etc all of which led to lack of sleep, fatigue, digestion problems, acne and what not. My anxiety made the situation even worser when I had a panic attack and especially when I was about to get my first vaccine shot. The night before taking the vaccine, I couldn’t sleep properly, a lot of negative thoughts were running in my mind and I had constant heart palpitations till the moment I got vaccinated. Eventually I decided to consult Sumithra ma’am. I found her through google. When I first met her, she patiently listened to all my problems and established a very good rapport with me. She explained clearly about the problem I had and prescribed me medicines accordingly along with a therapy. I had been suffering with postpartum depression and it was extreme that I could leave my child with my parents to bring him up. I used to behave weirdly shouting at others and crying most of the time in a day and unable to take care of my own daily activities and the child. I am very satisfied in treatment with Dr. sumithra Devi .she is very friendly and listened my past thoughts...9 years back I did one mistake in join family.. my mother in law sugar patient.. i mix the water in sugar syringe.. That time I am very stressed so I did that mistake.. That mistake form a guilt feel now.. I underwent treatment for anxiety and depression to Dr.Sumitra Devi. Dr. was very friendly and blissful which is much needed for a Psychiatrist. She welcomes the patient with warm smile, that makes the patient very comfortable to tell her their personal issues. She listens to patient problems without interrupting even if it takes long hours. She recommends proper medication for your problems to recover as soon as possible. With proper followup and medication i have recovered a lot. I am very much happy with her diagnosis and treatment.
