Dr. S.S. Kumar

Hi.. I have visited the doctor twice once for me and other for my sister. We both have same problem which is disc bulge. For me after thoroughly checking MRI film and reports doctor have suggested the bulge is mild and surgery not required. This can be treated with medicine and physio therapy.

For my sister the disc bulge at L5-S1 is severe and has significant disc bulge in L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels. Before consulting doctor S. S. Kumar we have consulted spine surgeon in CMC vellore and MIOT Chennai. Both the doctors recommended for fusion implantation surgery and that is the best option.

After I gave a consultation with S. S. Kumar sir he examined both patient and reports then he suggested for endoscopy or microscopy surgery can be done to cure this issue and no need to go for open surgery. He explained clearly why we should not go for open surgery clearly as below.

1. Patient is only 29years old

2.As she has multiple bulge along with severe bulge we should not do major surgery which will impact other two discuss.

3.Spine stability is 100% so endoscopy or microscopy is the best option.

The felt like I have saved my sister's life from hospitalized for rest of her years.

I have had back pain on and off for 3 months but got worse last month .Initially I consulted Dr S. S. Kumar who suggested MRI scan which revealed a large herniated disc pinching my right leg nerve root. He diagnosed it as sciatica and asked me to take rest and put me on pain killers. Althogh I initially responded, However as the pain got worse, he gave me the surgical option called microdiscectomy. His explaination was crystal clear and he sounded very confident and positive and left the option to me to make a decision . As the pain was intolerable and I ran out of all non surgical options, I underwent surgery last week. I could walk immediately after surgery *** ** *** ****** Astra hospital didnt feel like a hospital to me, all the staff were extremely friendly, empathetic and compassionate.

I have visited This center for the treatment of joint broken in finger. After **** diagnosis Dr.Kumar advised me to undergone for surgery which went smooth and now i m completely alright now, (i was advised by few of my friends to ho with puttur mavu kattu.but they didnt give me assirance for the complete recover .so i decided to go with surgery) I am completely satisfied with the treatment and the way they treated each patient. Especially Dr. Kumar showed extreme care towards patiens recovery. Money is not their focus at any time, Pre and post surgery treatments were good. No delay in my all appointments, They didnt asked me to take unnecessary tests. I will definitely recommend Dr.Kumar for any artho problems treatments.

The quality of service rendered at this facility is exquisite. Welcoming front office staff and special note of thanks to the physiotherapist at this facility who helped me greatly to get over the pain with quality care. And about doctor S.S Kumar, he is a fantastic professional who listens to the patients problems and provides effective remedies. He helped me get over nagging disc problems and has always been my go to doctor for any spinal ailments. I would defenitely recommend this hospital to my friends & family.

The doctor was not available both the time we visited the hospital. The hospital is far from my home yet we were made to wait for more than 4 hours, the second time when we visited the doctor was not even in the hospital nor was he going to visit the hospital. No one from the hospital nor the doctor informed us about this. Very bad experience - we spent around 1000 rs just for travel But then we still couldn’t see the doctor. Highly disappointed and will never visit this hospital or the doctor ever again. My sincere advice to others is please don’t visit this hospital,

I was intially provided a great feedback about Astra and that they have a machine to diagnose the intensity of the issue etc etc. I went with high expectation, meeting Mr.Kumar was fast and he checked my shoulder manually and asked me to take an X Ray saying he was unable to diagnose what the actual issue was.Xray was quick after which he said there may be small distruption and gave me pain killers. I was told to undergo physiotherapy for 3 days. I am not sure if this is how it's done before reviewing the actual issue or taking an scan.I went to the counter and was attended by a lady wearing saree ( possibly service executive) .I was taking clarification if I had to take the physiotherapy start to end at Astra, she mentioned no we are not forcing and I can take it anywhere.I was trying to take clarification that I had already something for next two days hence following days cannot do it at Astra.She started talking like DR.,DR.has told right and I need to do it,instead of understanding what I was explaining. The way she told I decided let me quit from here.I gave my card as bill was 300+600+300= 1200/- she said she prefers cash,Digital world and this lady was asking cash. I said swipe my card she said check if I had cash or else she would swipe my card,I had to repeat that I don't have cash.She then swiped my card and I exited. My experience not so good and would not recommend this centre.

IT was really a wonderful experience with Dr.S.S. Kumar, ** ** *** **** ******* ** ********** the problem furthermore he was patient in listening to the problems of me coming to his hospital for physio exercise. so, at the end of the day after consulting to him and taking the medicines prescribed him, my neck pain responded properly in minimising and I had a good sleep. Today, still I am feeling better. Hope I would not end up with similar problems again. But I would much appreciate the good work of ASTRA Clinic in serving the humanity at minimal cost. I would strongly and sincerely wish to recommend to my nears and dears if they need any consultation with back pain / neck pain, spinal problems, etc ...

Dr. Kumar is extremely calm, patient and someone who lends an ear to what the patient has to say. He lets you understand what and how of the symptoms/issues that one has in the most simplest of language, recommends only what is necessary (no unwanted tests, etc). It's been two days that I started my treatment for cervical pain which was there for almost around a month or so and touchwood, his prescribed meds have relieved my neck pain to a great extent. Without a doubt, my highest recommendation goes out for Dr. Kumar, thank you Sir.

Booked an appointment on 28th June 2019 for the same day at 7:50 PM through the Astra Hospital website. Received a confirmation upon submission. I'm suffering from severe pain in my heel and I wanted to see Dr. S. S. Kumar for that. When I went to the hospital at 7:30 PM, I was told that the hospital did not receive any appointment request from me. I asked them if anything could be done but they did not even care about booking another appointment for me or an alternate solution.

Dr. S.S.Kumar was very friendly and positive. He was quickly able to diagnose my problem and ordered only the most needed tests(X-Ray) and told me that there won’t be a need for MRI scans unless the problem doesn’t go away in a few days. He also directed me for physiotherapy which helped heal within 3 days. He asked me to follow it up with yoga kind of exercises to avoid reoccurrence of the problem.
