He completed his MBBS in 2000 with flying colors and was awarded the Dr. Chandra Bose gold medal for standing first in clinical medicine in state of Tamil Nadu, by IMA (Indian Medical Association). He completed his postgraduate training in ophthalmology from the world-renowned Aravind Eye Care System in the year 2006. He was adjudged the outgoing student of his class at Aravind Eye Hospital and postgraduate training institute in the year 2006. He passed the international council of ophthalmology assessment exams in the year 2005 and 2007. He was recognized as a high volume cataract surgeon at Aravind Eye Care System. He has completed his FRCS (Glasgow, Scotland) and is an accomplished phaco surgeon with over 25000 cataract surgeries to his credit. He was the phaco trainer at Aravind Eye Hospital and was instrumental in setting up the phaco-wet lab and training doctors from Bangladesh, China and Thailand. He completed his fellowship training in Vitreo-retinal Surgery, at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He’s one of the few comprehensive ophthalmic surgeons in the world capable of performing phaco, LASIK and vitreo retinal surgeries.
