Dr. Kannan GK

Dr. G.K Kannan completed his medical training (M.B.B.S) and psychiatry training (M.D Psychiatry) at the Madras Medical College in Chennai. After working over a year as a lecturer in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Unit in Christian Medical College, he proceeded to Australia where he obtained Fellowship of Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and completed sub-specialist training in Child &Adolescent Psychiatry. He has been working in Psychiatry for over 13 years and in Child Psychiatry for over 6 years.Comprehensive Psychiatric assessment for adults and children/adolescents is offered at his clinic. He has experience in both psychotherapeutic techniques and medication treatment options enable him to offer holistic care. Formal training in mindfulness meditation-based interventions such as ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) for adults and young people provides him with the ability to offer treatment packages with a blend of the east and the west.Dr. Kannan also has training in behavior therapy for management of disruptive behaviors in children and circle of security training, which is of immense benefit for children with attachment difficulties. He has a special interest in the treatment of stress-related disorders and prevention of mental disorders. Dr. Kannan also has a keen interest in research.
