Dr. Vishakhadatta Mathur Kumaraswamy

Dr. Vishakhadatta is a neurologist who has completed his training in India and the USA, at premier institutes such as JIPMER, Pondicherry, and Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland.During his residency and fellowship, he had the opportunity to work with internationally recognized pioneers in the field such as Dr. Robert Daroff (general neurology), Dr. Bashar Katirji, Dr. David Preston and Dr. Barbara Shapiro (neuromuscular disorders), Dr. Hans Luders (epilepsy) and Dr. Anthony Furlan (stroke).He has considerable expertise in the management of neuromuscular conditions such as neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, myopathy/muscular dystrophy, CMT, CIDP and motor neuron disease. He is well versed in critical care management of neurological emergencies, treatment of acute stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune neurological conditions, headache and dementias including Alzheimer disease.He has in-depth training in clinical neuromuscular medicine as well as electrodiagnostic techniques(including single fiber EMG), neuromuscular ultrasound and autonomic functions testing. He has had extensive exposure via dedicated courses as well as clinical care, to EEG reading, techniques in neuroimaging and interpretation, and basic neuroscience.His research interests include inherited neuromuscular disorders, neuromuscular ultrasound and quantitative analysis of EEG and EMG data. He has several publications in reputed international journals.
