Dr. Guru Prakash K V

Major (Dr) Guru Prakash K V, an ex-serviceman, did his medical graduation from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences at Sri Siddhartha Medical College. Even during his internship, he was known for his workmanship, good rapport with the patient and keen interest in Psychiatry. He worked in various hospitals including Wockhardt Hospitals, Bangalore before he joined Prestigious Indian Army at Army Medical Corps. He continued to be a good performer in both medical and non medical tasks and always received appreciation and applauds. He was felicitated by various state ministers and local representatives for the tremendous efforts to develop harmony and peace in the counterinsurgency area by helping the needy. Also was awarded the prestigious “Chief of Army Staff – Commendation” for the same. Later he did his Masters in Psychiatry from “Command Hospital – Eastern Command”, Kolkata and again continued to shine with his efforts. He stood first in the University exams of MD (Psychiatry), West Bengal University of Health Sciences. He specialised all aspects of psychiatry by best guides of Army College. Currently practicing Psychiatry at various hospitals in Bangalore and is known for his keen listening, down to earth, humble and friendly nature. He treats patient with utmost care and provides quality time and care during consultation. He is very friendly and approachable. Areas of Interests include – Addiction Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, Community psychiatry, Child and Adolescent psychiatry and Psychosexual problems. Co- Author of “Sapta Vaidyara Churumuri” – A book in regional language “Kannada” aimed at sharing experiences and educating common man regarding mental and other illness. Currently an esteemed member of “Combat Depression – Task Force” – Co Cordinator in preparing a hand book of “Self Help Guide for Military & Paramilitary/Police”. In addition has rendered awareness talks at various institutes. Also is Academic training incharge at Spandana Hospitals where many nursing and psychology interns have been undergoing training in Psychiatry.
