Dr. Prashanth has extensive experience in the field of adult and paediatric cardiac surgery, having been involved in over 6000 procedures. He specializes in all forms of adult cardiac surgeries, with his areas of interest including beating heart bypass surgeries, minimally invasive cardiac surgeries (MICS), valve repairs, surgeries for atrial fibrillation.Having completed his MBBS from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli, in 1999, he went on to specialize in General Surgery from Bangalore Medical College (2003). He then completed his MCh – Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery from Sri Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, in 2007.Dr. Prashanth worked in leading multi-specialty hospitals prior to joining the Aster group of hospitals in 2018.
My mum underwent surgery (lobectomy and thoracotomy) a month ago in Aster Hospital Hebbal under Dr.Prashant YM (CTVS). It took us years to decide but he explained to us so well if no for surgery or yes for surgery and his explanation was pretty clear and satisfying. He really took time to explained everything and there comes courage and boldness to go for surgery which we were literary struggling. In a nutshell, Dr.Prashant is a gentleman, calm demeanour, meticulous and competence. I highly recommend anyone out there who required this procedure. He took the time out to look at my mum’s old reports, listened carefully to my explanation of my mum history of illness. Many doctors don’t have the patience or couldn’t invest their time to listen to the patient explanation.
