Dr. Sunil V Furtado

Dr. Sunil V Furtado is a senior consultant neurosurgeon in Bangalore with over 23 years of experience in Neurosurgery. After specializing in General Surgery, he secured the MCh degree in Neurosurgery from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum; a national institute under the Central ministry of Science and Technology. He worked for 9 years at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute for Higher Medical Sciences at Whitefield, Bangalore. During his stay, he was actively involved with neuro-oncology projects with the Indian Institute of Science and CSIR and focused on brain tumors and cerebrovascular disorders. He then completed two fellowships in the United States: Cerebrovascular & Skull Base Surgery at Stanford University, California & Endovascular Neurosurgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, New York. These fellowships provided a multimodality approach to managing complex head, neck and brain tumors, integrating skills of operative neurosurgery and radio-interventional neurosurgery. He is a Senior Consultant at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bangalore.He is a member of various national and international neurosurgical societies, holds academic posts and has more than 80 indexed publications and book chapters to his credit.
