Dr. Shreedhar KB Gowda is a consultant psychiatrist with over 23 years of experience across India and Australia. Following MBBS from Government Medical College, Bellary in 1999, his psychiatric postgraduation training has been at premier institutes including: Diploma in Psychiatry (DPM) from National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Diplomate of National Board (DNB) from St. Johns National Academy of Medical Sciences, Bangalore. Following postgraduation, Dr Gowda has worked in NIMHANS and Department of Psychiatry, St. Johns National Academy of Medical Sciences. He then moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2010 and obtained the Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). He is passionate about clinical work, and was among the few to initiate private practice in Melbourne shortly after his fellowship. He has worked as consultant psychiatrist in public mental health units including Melbourne Health & Mercy Health, Melbourne; South Australia Health, Adelaide; Western Australia country health and Metro South Health at Brisbane, Queensland. He has also consulted at various private clinics and hospitals in Melbourne including Wyndham private, Southwest Specialist Centre, and the well-known NorthPark Private Hospital consulting suites.Dr. Gowda is keenly interested in psychotherapy. He is actively participating in weekly peer group of psychoanalytical seminars and case discussions. He has finished advanced training in MBT (Mentalization Based Therapy) conducted by Dr. Anthony Bateman. Dr. Gowda is involved in active psychotherapy, his approach being eclectic in nature.Dr. Gowda is well versed in working with clientele from diverse socio-cultural-linguistic background. He is fluent in Kannada, English, Hindi and Telugu. He is keenly focused on treating clients with a holistic bio-psycho-social approach following a thorough assessment.
