My dad had a successful prostatectomy with Dr. Shivashankar. He is a very clean and trustworthy surgeon who explains everything patiently. I referred another patient based on this positive experience.
Visited For Urinary Tract Infection
I had visited Dr. Shivashankar at Manipal hospital for my father-in-law who was suffering from a urinary infection. Firstly, you need to book the appointment a week in advance as he is quite renowned and also it is Rs.600 per appointment which is ok. What is not ok, is that once you come in for the appointment, not only do you have to wait a while to get your turn, when you do get your turn, the Doctor is in such a hurry to complete the examination and make a diagnosis that he does not even have time to explain and answer questions. He directly scribbles something as a prescription and expects you to follow it without seeking any clarification. And the icing on the cake (note the sarcasm), is that when he think the appointment is done (which is about 3 -5 mins or less), he stands up even while you are speaking to indicate to you the appointment is done and you need to leave the room! And if that was his level of courtesy for a wheel chair bound senior citizen, I only dread to think how he would treat others.
38 years of experience (as boasted by Manipal hospital website) has only resulted in creating a rude, grumpy old man. It's time he retires or kicks the bucket. As for you, I suggest you find an alternative doctor to consult.
