No need to apologize. It is your right to give feedback and review. I guess we are not meant to confront each other. Because like your feedback, I am and I will be honest in my therapy. For me, the most important aspect of therapy is exposing the patient to the reality. Yes the truth will be harsh but one cannot really escape the reality can he? As far as rude behavior is concerned, sometimes it is required to be straight forward especially in a country like India where people take psychiatry and clinical psychology for granted. I have no shame in saying that I will drop your case if you don't follow the procedures that are being given. Because if I allow you to just follow this casual attitude then you will be just coming again and again without any progress, which according to me is the most unethical thing to do in a clinical field, both from patient side and doctor side. So its simple if you are not willing to do the tasks given, please do not consult me. I hope you remember how many times you have not done the tasks given and how many times you have missed the follow ups. When you went to kolkata, I explicitly told you to visit some psychiatrist nearby which you never did. If it would have been some other case, I would have dropped him by the third visit. Because I felt you need help that is why I continued with you. But it was also my duty to ensure that you do the tasks regularly. I am friendly with patients. But only with the ones who are sincere with the tasks. For others, I will not be friendly because it gives the false sense that I am ok with their non-compliance. And I explained it to you in the first visit only so if you were not comfortable, you should have discontinued after first few visits. I don't see the point of coming to me for 6 months at a stretch. So to summarize, in your case, I did what I had to do and I will do the same if you come again. But don't worry, there are many other therapists in Bangalore who will do exactly what you want.
