I was referred to Dr. Maruthesh Gowda for gallbladder stones after suffering from recurrent abdominal pain radiating to the back for over four years. He had actually recommended surgery a year ago, but I was not ready at that time. When the pain episodes became more frequent and severe this year, I came back to him.
Dr. Maruthesh Gowda ordered a fresh ultrasound which revealed chronic cholecystitis with an overdistended gallbladder, wall thinning, multiple stones, and biliary sludge. He explained the condition clearly, gave me three treatment options with honest pros and cons of each, and never pressured me toward any particular choice. That kind of patient-centered approach is rare.
The surgery — laparoscopic cholecystectomy — was performed on 12th June 2026 at Manipal Hospital Hebbal. The surgical report later confirmed dense adhesions which made the procedure more technically challenging than a standard case. Despite this, the surgery was uneventful. I was discharged the very next morning, able to eat and walk normally.
What impressed me equally was the post-operative care. Dr. Maruthesh Gowda responded promptly to WhatsApp messages throughout my recovery — answering questions about dark stool, skin rashes, and wound changes — each time with clear, calm guidance **** ********* *********** ********
The histopathology report confirmed chronic cholecystitis with no malignancy — exactly what he had diagnosed clinically. The wounds healed well and I was cleared at the 7-day follow-up with no dietary restrictions.
If you are looking for a surgeon who combines technical expertise with genuine patient communication, I would strongly recommend Dr. Maruthesh Gowda. His NHS UK training and experience with complex cases is evident — but what stands out equally is his accessibility and patience with patients throughout the recovery process.

I had a fistulotomy four months ago in Toronto. Unfortunately, the issue recurred, so I came back to Bangalore for immediate medical attention. Initially, I consulted a surgeon at Apollo Hospitals who recommended surgery. For a second opinion, I visited Dr. Maruthesh at Koshys Hospital. He reviewed my MRI report and confirmed that I needed surgery.
During my consultation, I really appreciated Dr. Maruthesh's calm demeanour and his attention to the patients without distractions. The staff at Koshys Hospital were also very welcoming, especially Julie. Since I do not have insurance, she helped me secure a reasonable quote for the procedure. Dr. Maruthesh performed laser surgery the following day, and I was discharged after an overnight stay. I had a follow-up appointment with him on Day 8, and he noted that the wound is healing well.
Today is Day 13. The pain is minimal, and I am hoping to recover fully in the next few weeks. I will update this review once I am completely healed.
Hoped for better: Treatment satisfaction
I consulted this doctor after my blood tests showed elevated bilirubin levels, and jaundice was suspected. Unfortunately, my overall experience was disappointing.
During the initial consultation, the doctor mainly focused on my blood report and immediately advised further investigations, including an abdominal ultrasound (USG) and several specialized blood culture tests. **** * ***** ******* *** **** he did not spend time understanding my symptoms, asking how I was feeling, or discussing my medical history before recommending additional investigations.
Initially, I was advised to get the USG done first and return with the report, after which it would be decided whether further tests were necessary. I completed the USG, and the results were completely normal. However, during the follow-up consultation, instead of discussing my symptoms or interpreting the normal USG findings in detail, I was advised to undergo four additional specialized blood culture tests.
These tests were not readily available at most diagnostic laboratories, and it took me several days to locate a lab that could perform them. Since culture tests require incubation, I had to wait another week for the results. Eventually, all of those reports also came back negative.
When I tried to meet the doctor again **** ***** ******** * *** ******** **** * ***** **** ** *** ******* ************ *** ******* **** **** * **** *** ******* I explained that the delay was entirely due to the time required for the prescribed tests and that no treatment or medication had been initiated during the previous visits. Visited For Hepatitis B
The doctor spoke to me very well and explained that he would inform me after the test reports arrive. I felt the clinic experience was good with no waiting time. Overall, I would rate my experience 4.5 out of 5 and would definitely recommend Dr. Maruthesh Gowda to others.
Visited For Acid Reflux
The doctor explained everything clearly during my visit. The clinic and staff were fine, though I had to wait a bit because the doctor seemed busy. Overall, I had a good experience and would recommend Dr. Maruthesh Gowda. I rate my experience as four out of five.
I felt the doctor listened to my problems during the short consultation, but the visit was very brief. The doctor said he would give proper advice after reviewing my test reports. However, the timing was not followed as per the appointment booked, and I had to wait much longer than expected.
The doctor explained everything clearly during my consultation. The clinic, staff, and waiting time were all good. Overall, I had a positive experience with Dr. Maruthesh Gowda.
