Dr. K M Bopanna

When my wife was diagnosed with Acoustic Neuroma (partial face numbness) and learned the treatment is neurosurgery, it was devastating to put it mildly. Then we met with Dr. Bopanna @ Manipal.

From the word GO, he epitomized the basic principle of “putting patient first” in so far as

1) articulating the nature of the ailment, treatment options, major side effects (loss of hearing)

2) nudged/ encouraged to mull on options including seeking expert opinions from other hospitals

3) willingly provided a referral letter to another renowned hospital on evaluating their Radiation treatment options

4) all the while reassuring us, if we still choose him for surgery, we’re in safe hands.

It turned out, after exhaustive analysis we zeroed in on surgery as the unanimous option and undoubtedly, we headed back to Dr.Bopanna. He performed the surgery with his able staff at our earliest convenience and made sure we were discharged the day after the surgery ensuring all vital stats were normal.

I am writing this review after 1.5 months and life has as best returned to Normalcy for my wife. Wanted to take a moment to thank profoundly Dr Bopanna and all his support/admin staff, including the ever-pleasant sister Roopa in his OPD who made the experience as painless as possible.

Doctors are next best to only GOD for which, the likes of Dr.Bopanna are live testimonials!!

The waiting time is extremely long. I booked the first appointment but had to wait close to 1:30 hrs. But I would not like to hold this against Dr as being a neurosurgeon all operations are scheduled early mornings and sometime it does take in more time than expected.

My mother was detected with advanced stage Cancer and it had reached brain with a solitary lesion.

Doctor was extremely straight forward with no window for emotions. He was strictly against surgery based with convincing reasons.

Though his outright straight forward attitude did scare me to counter question him but when a neurosurgeon is asking to not have a brain surgery means he is prioritising patient’s life.

Also he wasn’t in hurry to finish off my appointment asap and did ask till the end if I have any question or clarification. I would recommend him surely but do not expect sweet talking from him.

He gave me enough time to discuss the problems and he also explained the condition very well. But he suggested a lot of tests for neuro diagnosis, even though when I had my recent test reports with me. It was slightly miserable. To cope with a lot of tests by spending time and money is not that easy. So, that was the only thing I am not happy with him. Later he recommended me to another doctor and my treatment went really well thereafter. I am now happily satisfied with the results.

On the first meet itselp he is very rude. Asked y u came to me i am a nuersurgen. actually my problem is i met RTA an year ago a got hard hit on my back thigh a lost sensation for an inch of muscle and lrg pain. he is not ready to gather info abt that. didn't see my previous medical record. I had pain severity in my lower back along with the stiffness. I consulted Dr. Bopanna for this. He gave me relevant advice about therapy and also suggested for L4, L5 surgery. A complete information was given about the procedure and pricing. But it was a really huge amount for me to afford. So I opted for curative medications. I will surely recommend the doctor. He is really an expert. But he didn't show up on time. Since he was in OT, I had to wait for him around 4 hours. When I had back pain, it was very difficult to sit for long duration. I always use Practo for booking appointments. They always provide good service but this time unfortunately I went through a dilemma where I couldn't complain the hospital emergencies as well. I could suggest them to be cautious for such emergencies to avoid perplexity. Also the cost reduction might help a lot.

MY mother 80 had a fall and DR Bopanna was the one who attended.her case .She has a pacemaker with a lower EF of 30 and a neurological stroke in 2009 and 2015.he clearly explained the risk and treated her well and performed a burr hole surgery.now she has recovered well and seems to be carrying out her routine schedule. thanks to Doctor who took good care of her.

I had a great experience with Dr Bopanna. My daughter had a very strange problem. He advised us and gave a clear picture of the problem. And also he did the surgery of my dd at the age of 10 months once and second one in the age of 3. Today she is 7 years old. All thanks to Dr Bopanna. We owe a lot to you Sir. 🙏
