She has experience with hundreds of cases of Lap Band, Sleeve gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Duodenal switch (BPD-DS), duodenojejunal bypass, re –do bariatric surgery, etc. from this dedicated training.In addition, she is one of the few surgeons trained and performing Ileal interposition surgery for cure of Diabetes Mellitus, after training with Dr. Ugale (India’s first pioneer of this technique) at Kirloskar Hospital, Hyderabad.She has completed Fellowship training in Robotic and Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery from Korea University Anam Hospital, Seoul, South Korea, under the guidance of the world renowned Professor Seon Hahn Kim.MShe also received advanced specialised training in Breast and Endocrine Surgeries from India’s first dedicated endocrine and breast post graduate course and department at SGPGI, Lucknow under the pioneering and visionary surgeon Dr. S.K. In july 2017, I suffered from "Idiopathic Sclerosing Encapsulating Peritonitis [small bowel cocoon". This is a rear scenario in which the entire small intestine loops are entrapped in a membrane, which restricts the free movement of small bowel. In my case, things were even more bad because around one feet of small bowel had become gangrenous and a situation of life and death arose.
Dr. Hema operated me for more than 10 hours. During surgery, she patiently and meticulously removed each layer of membrane encapsulating my small bowel and also removed the gangrenous part of the intestine. She, did all this through laparoscopy [avoiding open surgery], which requires lot of skill and temperament.
One special point I want to mention about Dr. Hema is that she follows the "Hippocratic oath for Doctors" religiously upholding the values of autonomy, beneficence and non-maleficence .
I am really thankful to Dr. Hema for the treatment she has done saving my life and in turn saving my family from an unimaginable pain.
