Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal

Dr. Sudarshan Ballal, with about 34 years of experience under his belt, is the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board, and Medical Director of Manipal Hospitals. He was the best outgoing student (Blue Ribbon awardee) of KMC, Manipal and a recipient of many Gold Medals during his MBBS and M.D. In his training days in USA he had the distinction of being one of the few to be a triple Board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology & Critical Care. He was conferred the fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, London for his contribution in Medicine. After working as a Consultant in Nephrology and Transplantation at the St. Louis University School of Medicine, he moved back to India to head the Nephrology Unit at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. Preventive measures are very important and I think even doctors should be educated on this, which is why we focus on the preventive measures rather than dialysis and transplantation, says Dr. H.
