Interventional Radiology is a field most patients have never encountered, and one that deserves far greater visibility. When my wife was diagnosed with uterine fibroids, we went through the standard rounds — multiple gynaecologists, each of whom recommended either a myomectomy or a total hysterectomy. What struck us was not just the uniformity of the recommendation, but the resistance some of them showed toward even discussing minimally invasive alternatives. It is image-guided, minimally invasive, and preserves the uterus entirely. In the right case, it is a far better option than open or laparoscopic surgery. The outcome — Nearly two years later, my wife is completely symptom-free. No surgical complications, no prolonged recovery, no loss of uterine function.
