We met a lot of doctors, to understand what is best way forward for my mother’s heart condition (Valve being narrow, hence causing discomfort in chest during exhaustion). Most doctors rarely take out time to clarify the patient-caretaker doubts during the initial phases of decision making (surgery or not & associated trade-offs).
All this changed when we met Dr.Ganeshkrishnan Iyer in the CTVS department. He is one of the most patient individuals I have met who at his position (35+yrs of experience), takes time and effort to bring required clarity & confidence into patient/caretaker for decision making. It is through our multiple rounds of interactions/conversations with him & his team, did we become confident that we are in the right hands to go through with the surgery.
Once the surgery happened, both the Doctors and their team (extending to Dr.Nishith, Asha ma’am, Vaani ma’am amongst others) never hurried through their updates while my mother was in the ICU. They took time to explain her condition, the hypotheses behind any anomaly observed & possible routes of treatment if the anomaly continued over the course of stay. Basically, their attitude towards helping us get clarity on “the why” of the health at any point in time (pre & post surgery) never changed. If at all, it got better with time. Vaani ma'am was always there to help us meet doctor/co-ord any meeting required. This level of transparency & staying connected coupled with the recovery path of our mother was comforting.
Aster CMI's moto is “We treat you well”. It is only when you interact with a team of Doctors such as Dr.Ganeshkrishnan Iyer, do you really feel it materialise into something beyond words. It is humane, pragmatic and transparent. Additionally, the environment of the hospital (Seating areas in OPD, Cafes- Canteens, IPD wards-Private, Lighting and ventilation) are all comforting spaces to be in hard times like these as they do not intrude into already “emotionally draining” times.
Today, a week post Discharge, the team is still engaged with the progress of the individual post discharge. They take time to clarify all doubts and concerns. Even proactive follow-up at times when there are any concerns/false alarms. There is a sense of comfort with the decision taken and the overall journey so far. Looking forward to complete recovery & a healthier life going ahead for my mother from now.
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, helpers and other staff of Aster CMI Hospital who helped us in these times.
The experience with Dr. Ganesh Krishnan Iyer was good. The doctor explained everything clearly, and the wait time at the clinic was minimal. I would recommend this doctor to others.

The patient views Dr. Ganesh Krishnan Iyer as an excellent graft specialist but ** ********* ***** *** ****** ** * *********** mentioning the doctor was somewhat reserved and did not open up much during follow-ups.

The patient decided to change doctors and did not attend an appointment with Dr. Ganesh Krishnan Iyer. This suggests a negative sentiment toward continuing care with this doctor.

Hoped for better: Treatment satisfaction
Really disappointed with the kind of treatment my dad got in Aster RV hospital from Dr. Ganesh Iyer and Dr. S Venkatesh for his cardio treatment. We visited hospital in 2022 as my dad had 2 blockages in his heart and, as advised by Dr. Venkatesh went for open-heart surgery (CABG). After 2 years of surgery in March 2024, he again felt pain in his chest, because of that he went for a checkup and got to know that both the bypass arteries were not working, and blood is still flowing from his old vain which is around 85% blocked.
We went again to visit Aster RV hospital and met Dr. Venkatesh, where he said we should get the angiogram done so that we would get to know the reason why the bypass surgery had failed ** ** *** *** ***** ** ***** **** ** *** *** ********** *** *** ****** **** ** ***** **** ** ****** ** ***** ***** ***** **** ** *** *** ********* ***** *** ** ********** **** ** *** *** ******** **** ** ******* ****** **** ****** ******* **** ** ***** **** *** *** ****** *** ****** *** ****** *** ** ** *** *********** **** * ********* ** * ******
Even, for getting the CD for, angiogram, Aster is charging an additional INR 700 apart from INR 30,000 that they are charging for angiogram.

Our family approached Dr. Iyer with my father’s case of severely blocked arteries stemming from uncontrolled diabetes. It was considered a risky case because he was also in heart failure. Dr. Iyer came highly recommended from our Cardiologist for Cardiovascular procedures. He is exceptionally accomplished and very experienced in his field. From the very first consultation we were comfortable working with Dr. Iyer and confident in proceeding with the course of treatment. He was very approachable and transparent with the plan which was reassuring to us.
We had my father admitted to Aster CMI for a bypass surgery. The entire team works tirelessly and is devoted to the patient's healthy recovery. They offered round the clock care and were always available to assist with any questions or concerns. It was a big relief knowing that my father was under the care of such a highly skilled and dedicated team. Special thanks to Ms. Vani, the coordinator from the Cardiac Surgery Department. She was super patient with us and would be available to respond to queries any time of the day. She coordinated and communicated patient care extremely well.
My family and I are extremely thankful to Dr. Iyer, his team of incredible doctors and amazing supporting staff for taking such good care of my father and nursing him back to good health. Please consider this as my personal recommendation for anyone considering treatment under Dr. Iyer.
